I’ve talked a lot about how I don’t like the NCAA championship tournament - how I don’t Like college basketball in general. I don’t know whether its a lack of college spirit (my college’s sports program was not a model of virtue), or if, as I’ve repeatedly said, there are just too many teams and coaches and players and divisions to keep track of. I just don’t have the time or the motivation to care about these schools and their sports programs.
But, under protest, I did fill out a bracket this year at the request of my dad and brother. It’s not looking pretty. How BYU won against Wofford I’ll never know, and how Louisville was bested by Morehead (heehee) State is also a mystery. Now Butler beats Pitt (one of my final four teams) in a stunning one point victory.
This is just giving me another reason to hate college basketball. It’s so unpredictable and flippant that any team can win at any time. While some might find that extremely exciting, I find it annoying. What’s the point of all this stupid analysis I’m forced to listen to on ESPN when none of it matters? What’s the point of even gauging and ranking these teams when really all that matters is the number of points the teams score by the end of the game?
I’m throwing the towel in this year and might not ever come back. It’s just not fun for me and seriously interrupts my NFL lockout breaking news. …Sigh…
